Paul Abbatinozzi was one of the best catchers to ever play at Flagler College. He was a two-time honorable mention NAIA All-American. Abbatinozzi was a four-time All-District selection and earned District 25 Player of the Year honors in 1987. He is a member of the All-Decade Team and is in the top five in four different career categories at Flagler, including home runs (23) and runs batted in (131). His 55 RBI still stands as the third highest in a season.
Abbatinozzi was Flagler’s second player to be drafted by a Major League team. He was picked in the 32nd Round by the Chicago White Sox in 1988.
Today, the Malden, Mass.-native is the principal of the brand new Creekside High School in St. Johns, Fla. Paul and his wife, Melissa, and children: Paul, Jr., James and Claire reside in St. Augustine.
