Milestones & Eras

Early 1970s

Athletics teams make their official debut. The initial lineup features men's and women's basketball, men's cross country, men's soccer, slow-pitch softball, men's and women's tennis, volleyball, and baseball.

1972-1977

The slow-pitch softball team establishes absolute dominance, securing six consecutive state championship titles, including a historic undefeated regular season run in 1975.

1975

Darwin White meets with Flagler President Dr. William Proctor and is officially appointed as the College's Director of Athletics, initiating structural expansion.

1977

Flagler sports programs officially secure full membership inside the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA).

1987-1991

Women's tennis achieves a legendary national dynasty run, capturing five consecutive NAIA National Championship titles under Hall of Fame guidance.

1990

Flagler signs on as a charter member of the Florida Sun Conference (known today as the Sun Conference) to solidify regional rivalries.

2006

On February 14, Flagler College announces its historic transition away from the NAIA to join the ranks of NCAA Division II competition.

2009

Flagler enters full membership status with the competitive Peach Belt Conference (PBC), setting the stage for nationwide postseason appearances.

2018-2021

The Saints claim the Peach Belt Conference Commissioner's Cup—the league's highest institutional honor—for both the 2018-19 and 2020-21 seasons.

Athletic Venues

Flagler Gymnasium (1976)

Built to hold up to 1,000 spectators. Serves as the home court environment for all volleyball and basketball home matchups.

The Flagler Tennis Center (1983)

Constructed as one of the premier court layouts in the state, undergoing extensive courts and locker room modernization over the years.

Flagler Field Complex (2000-2022)

Located three miles from campus, housing Drysdale Field (Baseball, dedicated 2011), Saints Field (Soccer), Flagler Field (Softball, opened 2009), the specialized Lacrosse Field (opened 2022), and modern detached locker room centers.
