Heloise Duffie de Tassigny of the women's indoor track team was selected as the recipient of the Total Package Award, sponsored by Anastasia Fitness, for the 2018-19 winter sports season.
The award is presented on a seasonal basis to the student-athlete who excels in each of the following: athletics, academics, character, sportsmanship, personal fitness and community involvement.
“Heloise would make a tremendous choice for the Total Package Award," said head cross country/track coach Brian Beil. "She had a great performance at the PBC Championships in November where she led the women’s team to their second title, and she won individual title. Heloise became the second Flagler runner in school history to win the title and she went on to have a tremendous race at the national championship for cross country in December, which led to a very successful indoor track season. At the national championships for cross country in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Heloise finished 41st overall, just missing All-America distinction by one place.
"During the indoor track season she would post a 4:53 for the mile run, making her the ninth fastest to have run the event for the season, advancing her to the NCAA Division II Indoor Track & Field Championships, which were held in Pittsburg, Kansas," added Beil. "She advanced through the semifinal sections with a season-best time of 4:52, and would go on to finish eighth in the finals, earning first-team All-America honors. She is the first Flagler runner to earn the distinction, and the first ever to become a multiple-time All-American, having earned second-team All-America accolades in 2018.
"In addition to her success on the course and the track, she is equally strong in the classroom, where she has earned a cumulative grade point average of 3.5 while majoring in business administration with minors in finance, marketing and Spanish.”
