Simone High of the women's basketball team was selected as the recipient of the Total Package Award, sponsored by The Refinery Athletic Club & Wellness Center, for the 2013-14 winter sports season.
The award is presented on a seasonal basis to the student-athlete who excels in each of the following: athletics, academics, character, sportsmanship, personal fitness and community involvement.
“I feel Simone meets the criteria for this award because she has worked hard in the following areas: In the fall, she earned her highest GPA, a 3.46, while also increasing her statistics on the basketball court," said head women's basketball coach Erika Lang-Montgomery. "She improved in every statistical category from last season. This year already she has completed over 20 hours of community service. In between classes, she can always be found in the gym, getting in extra shots or up in the weight room working to maintain her level of conditioning. Most importantly, Simone brings a winning attitude to our program every day. She always has a smile on her face and always gives positive energy to her teammates and coaches. I hope she is recognized for her achievements.”
