Kevin Keenan of the men's soccer team was selected as the inaugural winner of the Total Package Award, sponsored by The Refinery Athletic Club & Wellness Center, for the 2013 fall sports season.
The award is presented on a seasonal basis to the student-athlete who excels in each of the following: athletics, academics, character, sportsmanship, personal fitness and community involvement.
Athletically, Keenan was the team captain as well as a first team all-conference and second team all-Southeast Region selection. Academically, he earned a 3.86 grade point average in the fall term. As examples of character, head men's soccer coach John Lynch expresses that Kevin’s was “displayed for all to see, by the way he led the team by challenging his peers to be better.” Another great example of his character can be seen in this story:

Relative to personal fitness, Kevin was clearly the leader of his team in the gym. Kevin worked extremely hard in the weight room in the pre- and off-season and cannot think of many student-athletes on any team who have worked harder. As far as community involvement is concerned, he is extremely active in many areas of campus life beyond athletics. Lynch notes that Keenan is “always the first to volunteer for our community service projects.”
