Flagler College Athletics

Sara Sandberg of the women's soccer team was selected as the Academy Bus Athlete of the Week, for the period ending Sept. 2.

Sandberg scored a goal and tallied an assist in No. 21 Flagler College's season-opening 3-1 victory at Florida Southern College. She scored the first goal of the match 15 seconds in, the fastest first goal in the history of the program. Then, she assisted in what would prove to be the game-winning goal just four seconds before the end of the first half. It was her indirect free kick from just outside the right corner of the goal box to a charging Myiah Russack-Cradeur, who scored the goal, to give the Saints a 2-1 lead.

Sandberg is tied for fourth place in the conference with three points.
