Shorty Spencer of the women's basketball team was selected as the TraveLynx Student-Athlete of the Week for the period ending Jan 27.
Spencer averaged a team-high 15.5 points and 9.0 assists per game to help lead Flagler to a 2-0 week. She made 8-of-9 from the free throw line and went 3-for-4 from behind the 3-point arc. In an 89-72 win over Columbus State last Monday, Spencer tied a school record with 13 assists and she scored a game-high 24 points. She made 8-of-her-9 free throw attempts in the final five minutes of the game. Spencer tallied seven points and handed out five assists in a win at Lander.
Spencer leads the Saints in scoring, averaging 15.1 points per game and she also tops the club with 4.87 assists per game. She is currently ranked fourth in the Peach Belt in 3-point field goal percentage (.429), fifth in made free throws (57), sixth in assists (73), and ninth in scoring, free throw percentage (.770) and minutes played (32.7).
