RALEIGH, N.C. - The Flagler College men's and women's track team finished their three day meet at the Raleigh Relays this afternoon, hosted by North Carolina State University.
Flagler sent two women's athletes in
Zoie Marchant and
Abby Misch as well as five men in
Will Stone,
Kaleb Hollins,
Luke Larkin,
Finn Russell and
John Carbone to the meet. Spanning across three races, the Saints competed in the 800 meter, 1500 meter and 5000 meter. Facing a plethora of power five, Division ! Institutions, the Saints faced schools such as University of Michigan, University of Virginia, University of Tennessee and University of Alabama.
Competing in the 800, Misch and Marchant faced 178 finishers. Leading the pack was Misch who ran a 2:12.22, earning her 75th. Marchant placed 106th in 2:13.87. In the 1500, Marchant shined with a new personal best 4:33.22, placing her in 136 out of 219.
Through the men, the Saints left with two NCAA provisional marks. Russell had a stand out performance in the 5K, placing 55 out of 206 finishers. Russell was the fastest Division II athlete in the event, out running Louis Ginane of Tiffin University by .63. Hollins ran his provisional mark in the 800. Out of 193 runners, Hollins placed 15th in 1:50.18 and was the second Division II athlete in the event.
Rounding out the 800 was Larkin and Carbone who finished in the top 50. Larkin placed 41st in a time of 1:51.68 while Carbone placed 46th in 1:51.74. Stone placed 94th in 1:53.37. The 1500 was led by Hollins who ran a 3:47.53, earning him 69th place out of 224 finishers. Hollins was the second fastest Division II runner in the event. Stone ran a 3:55.25, placing 196th while Larkin placed 223rd in 4:01.02
