Six Saints find the podium at the PBC Championship

GAINESVILLE, Fla. - The Flagler College men's track and field team wrapped up their indoor season at the Peach Belt Conference Championship this afternoon, held at the Alachua County Events Complex at Celebration Pointe.

The championship saw the Saints bring home one gold, three silver and three bronze medals while competing in seven events. Through the day, the Saints accumulated 75 points, landing them in fourth place. Embery-Riddle Aeronautical University placed first with 248 points while Augusta University placed second with 108 points. Rounding out the remaining teams were University of South Carolina at Beaufort with 88 points, Clayton State University in fifth with 63 points and Lander University with 28 points.

Will Stone was Flagler's lone champion, placing first in the Mile with a 4:04.11 finish. Ending on yet another yet another NCAA provisional time, Stone will prepare for the NCAA National Championship on Mar. 13-14 at the Virginia Beach Sports Center in Virginia Beach, Va.

Finn Russell finished the day tied with the most medals for any Saint on the men's side, with two. Russell competed in the 3000 and 5000 meter run. Russell's best race came in the 5000 meter where he placed second with 14:34.97. Andy Munnik joined Russell in the 5000 meter, earning bronze with his 14:44.05 finish. Russel's last medal came from his third place, 8:15.31 finish in the 3000 meter.

Hollins competed in three events and earned second in two. Hollins' first silver came in the 800 meter where he ran an NCAA provisional 1:50.30. Joining the podium in the 800 was John Carbone who placed third in 1:51.02. Hollins, Carbone, Luke Larkin and Logan Burch finished their day placing second in the Distance Medley Relay, running a 10:20.59.

Sprinting events saw Sam Adebonojo advance to the finals of the 60 meter hurdles after he finished with a 8.56 in the preliminaries. Adebonojo placed fifth overall, setting a new personal record 8.47.
