Hollins shines at GVSU Big Meet

ALLENDALE, Mich. - Kaleb Hollins and the Flagler College men's track & field team took advantage of the competition at the Grand Valley State University Big Meet this past weekend, setting multiple NCAA provisional times.

Take a select group of runners, the Saints participated in the 800 meter, 3000 meter and Distance Medley Relay. Making the trip was Hollins, Will Stone, Luke Larkin, John Carbone and Andy Munnik. Facing some of the nations best Division II programs, the Saints competed against schools such as Ashland University, University of Wisconsin-Parkside, Grand Valley and Lewis University.

The Peach Belt Conference crowned Hollins as the new conference record holder for the 800 meter. Hollins ran the sixth fastest time in NCAA DII with his 1:48.76 finish. This is the highest a Saint has been ranked at this point in the season in program history. On Saturday, Hollins, along with Stone, Carbone and Larkin competed in the DMR. Placing fifth, the Saints ran a NCAA provisional time in 9:52.54.

Matching their competition, Stone, Larkin and Carbone each set NCAA provisional times and new personal records. Stone ran a 1:49.74 which placed seventh overall and now holds the 15th fastest time in NCAA DII. Carbone finished in 12th place with a 1:50.69, landing him the 26th fastest time in NCAA DII. Larkin placed 14th and finished in 1:51.19 which earned him the 34th fastest time in NCAA DII. The lone Saint in the 3000 meter, Munnik placed 14th and ran a 8:30.87
