GAINESVILLE, Fla. - The Flagler College men's track team wrapped up the two day Alachua County Invitational held at the Alachua County Sports Complex at Celebration Pointe this afternoon.
Racing predominantly the sprints, the Saints competed in the 60 meter, 200 meter, 400 meter and 3000 meter run. Among the stiff competition were division one institutions such as Florida Atlantic University and University of North Florida and Division II institutions such as Saint Leo University, Florida Institution of Technology and University of South Carolina at Beaufort.
Malik Edwards covered the board for the Saints, coming in as the fastest 200m and 400m sprinter. In the 200, Edwards placed 28 out of 70 with a time of 22.69. In the 400, Edwards placed 20 out of 65, in a time of 50.56.
Xander Cunningham took second for the Saints in both the 200 and 400. In a time of 51.42, Cunningham placed 30th in the 400 and 39th in the 200 with a 23.17 finish.
Collin Norton was the first Saint to finish in the 60 meter preliminaries with a time of 7.25.
Ben Youngs finished with the highest placed for the Saints, competing in the 3k and placing 15th overall. Youngs set a new personal record with his 9:22.66 finish which smashed his previous best by 27 seconds.
The Saints will return to the track next week on Jan. 31 to Feb. 1 for the Legends of Alachua County Invite.
