CJ Hanson of the baseball team was selected as the Academy Bus Athlete of the Week for the period ending Feb. 22.

The Tampa, Florida native tied a school record when he struck out 16 batters in a game on Feb. 21 against American International University. He tossed eight innings, scattered seven hits and allowed one earned run. Hanson threw 131 pitches. He did not earn a decision as Flagler won the game in the bottom of the ninth. Hanson fanned five batters in a row and he struck out six of his 16 looking. Dave Weithman set the record in 1989.
