David Cotrone of the men's tennis team was selected as the Flagler College Student-Athlete of the Week for the period ending Mar. 7.
Cotrone, ranked No. 6 in Division II singles, won three matches this past week and is 11-0 this year playing at No. 1. He defeated the nation's second-ranked singles player, Alex Grubin of Concordia (N.Y.) 2-6, 7-5, 10-8 and also defeated the 35th-ranked player in Peter Kazianschuetz of Northwood (Mich.) 6-3 and 6-4.
In doubles play with Gino Ramirez, they suffered a tough 8-5 loss to the No. 1-ranked team in Division II, then lost 8-6 three days later to the 15th-ranked pair before defeating the 16th-ranked duo in D2 8-5 on Sunday.
