Nine Saints honored by College Sports Communicators

ST. AUGUSTINE – Nine Saints were selected to the 2024 Academic All-District® Men's and Women's Track & Field teams announced by College Sports Communicators.
 
The 2024 Academic All-District® Men's and Women's Track & Field teams, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the track, in the field, and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America® program separately recognizes men's and women's track & field honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.
 
Academic All-District® honorees were considered for advancement to the CSC Academic All-America® ballot. Student-athletes selected as CSC Academic All-America® finalists are denoted with an asterisk and will advance to the national ballot to be voted on by CSC members, who vote in their division. Women's Track and Field/XC first-, second- and third-team Academic All-America® honorees will be announced on Tuesday, July 9. The Men's Track and Field/XC first-, second- and third-team Academic All-America® honorees will be announced one day later on July 10. The CSC Academic All-District® teams include the student-athletes listed at the links above.
 
On the men's side Logan Burch, Christian Fernandez, Francisco Ramirez and Ethan Tank all earned honors for the first time.
 
Burch, a sophomore, holds a 3.97 cumulative grade point average (GPA) and is a coastal environmental science major with minors in biology and criminology. The Cape Coral, Florida native placed sixth and posted a personal-best in the mile at the Peach Belt Indoor Track & Field Championships (Feb. 19). He earned academic all-conference honors, as well as earning indoor all-conference status in the distance medley relay.
 
Fernandez, a junior, holds a 3.73 GPA and is a criminology major with a minor in psychology. The Miami, Florida native posted a personal-best time in the 3,000m with an eighth-place finish at the Peach Belt Indoor Track & Field Championships (Feb. 19). Fernandez earned academic all-conference.
 
Ramirez, a junior, is a coastal environmental science major with a minor in biology and holds a 3.81 GPA. The Pace, Florida native placed fifth in the 5,000m and ninth in the 3,000m at the Peach Belt Indoor Track & Field Championships (Feb. 19). He earned academic all-conference honors.
 
Tank, a junior, is a mathematics major with minors in psychology and law, and holds a 4.00 GPA. The Fort Myers, Florida native placed fourth in the 5,000m at the Peach Belt Indoor Track & Field Championships (Feb. 19). Tank earned academic all-conference honors.
 
On the women's side Megan Churchill, Maddi Hood, Marissa Kempf, Chloe Smith and Taylor Stone are all first-time honorees.
 
Churchill, a junior, holds a 3.78 GPA and is an international studies major with a minor in digital media production and journalism. The Tallahassee, Florida native earned all-conference honors in the 3,000m and 5,000m, finishing third in both at the Peach Belt Indoor Track & Field Championships (Feb. 19). She earned all-conference honors at the Peach Belt Conference Outdoor Track & Field Championships (April 29-30) with a first-place finish in the 5,000m and a second-place finish in the 10,000m. Churchill earned academic all-conference honors.
 
Hood, a junior, is a criminology major with minors in psychology and law, and holds a 3.62 GPA. The Estero, Florida native earned all-conference honors with a second-place finish as a member of the 4x400 relay team Peach Belt Indoor Track & Field Championships (Feb. 19). She earned all-conference honors at the Peach Belt Outdoor Track & Field Championships (April 29-30) in the 4x400 relay with a third-place finish. She also earned all-region honors in the distance medley relay. Hood was named to the academic all-conference team.
 
Kempf, a junior, holds a 3.90 GPA and is an English major with a minor in psychology. The Sarasota, Florida native placed fifth in the mile at the Peach Belt Indoor Track & Field Championships (Feb. 19). She earned academic all-conference honors.
 
Smith, a sophomore, is a digital media production and journalism major with minors in business administration and strategic communications, and holds a 4.00 GPA. The Frisco, Texas native placed fourth with a personal-best in the 5,000m at the Peach Belt Indoor Track & Field Championships (Feb. 19). Smith earned academic all-conference honors.
 
Stone, a junior, holds a 3.73 GPA and is an economics major with a minor in environmental science. The Largo, Florida native earned all-conference honors in the mile and as a member of the 4x400 relay team at the Peach Belt Indoor Track & Field Championships (Feb. 19). She also earned all-region honors in the distance medley relay, 800m and the mile for the indoor season, and in the 1500m and 800m in the outdoor season. Stone competed at the NCAA Division II Indoor Track & Field Championships (March 8-9) with a 12th place finish in the mile to reach second team All-America status. She also earned academic all-conference honors.

The Division II and III CSC Academic All-America® programs are partially financially supported by the NCAA Division II and III national governance structures to assist CSC with handling the awards fulfillment aspects for the 2023-24 Divisions II and III Academic All-America® programs. The NAIA CSC Academic All-America® program is partially financially supported through the NAIA governance structure.
