KEARNEY, Neb. – No. 4 (Intercollegiate Tennis Association's Division II Top 25) Flagler College rallied after losing the doubles point to defeat Peach Belt Conference rival No. 6 Columbus State University 4-1 in the seventh-place match at the ITA Division II National Women's Team Indoor Championship Sunday morning at the Ernest Grundy Tennis Center.
Flagler improved to 1-2 and Columbus State dropped to 3-3. The Saints host No. 19 University of Charleston on Saturday at 2 p.m. at the Pollard Tennis Center.
After losing the doubles point, Flagler won three singles matches in straight sets.
Eryka Kruk triumphed 6-2 and 6-1 over Agostina Bigotti.
Charlotta Buss cruised at No. 3 with a 6-3, 6-1 win over Isadora Oliveira.
Leonie Floeth got the Saints one point away from clinching with her win over Laura Pesickova (6-4 and 6-2).
Toni Pfeiffer clinched the match with her win at No. 6 over Yelena Labat (6-0, 0-6, 6-4).
