DAYTONA BEACH, Fla.- The Flagler College men's track and field team secured three top-three finishes at the Spike Classic, hosted by Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University on Friday and Saturday.
Joel Nesi led the Saints in the 1500m race, finishing in third place with a time of 3:55.73.
Matt Lyons finished in eighth place at 3:58.44, followed by
Francisco Ramirez in 15
th at 4:02.98.
Will Stone crossed the finish line at 4:06.10 to secure 19
th place.
Christian Fernandez came in 20
th with a time of 4:06.11.
Ethan Tank (4:08.65) and
Logan Seifert (4:10.56) finished in 27
th and 31
st place.
Lyons, Fernandez, Tank and Seifert earned new personal best times.
Luke Larkin came in first place in the 800m with a time of 1:52.28.
Will Stone took second at 1:52.49.The two Saints were just shy of the NCAA Division II provisional time of 1:51.48.
Matt Lyons finished in 15
th with a time of 1:56.90, while
Brandon Knieja secured 19
th at 1:58.54.
Chase McKee (2:01.77) finished in 28
th place, followed by
Logan Burch (2:02.49) in 32
nd.
Max Bowlin took 35
th at 2:03.37.
Adrian Abercrombie finished with a time of 2:06.74, followed by
Jack Cleary at 2:15.10.
Larkin, Lyons, McKee and Cleary each ran a personal best time.
Michael Hayeck was the only Saint to compete in the 300m Steeplechase. The senior came in at 10:59.32 to finish in eighth place.
In the 400m,
Luke Scheid posted a time of 52.52 for 17
th place.
Robert Stiff took sixth in the 10000m with a time of 34:48.35.
Next, Flagler will travel back to Daytona Beach, Florida for the Peach Belt Conference Championship on April 20-21.
