Joel Nesi led the Saints with a third-place finish in the mile at the JDL DMR Invitational.
Nesi finished the race with a personal best time of 4:14.22. Since the race was held on a flat track, Nesi's time converts to 4.11.02, which puts him in sixth place in the region rankings coming into this weekend. The junior's mark is just shy of the NCAA Division II provisional time (4:10.39).
"Joel ran a tremendous race," head coach of men's and women's cross country/ director of cross country and track
Brian Beil said. "He did exactly what we wanted from a tactics standpoint, and his legs were there today. It ended with a strong performance as a result. This is why we make these trips. To give our guys a chance to compete for top marks against a strong field. It wasn't a great day for everyone today, but we competed hard and I'm glad we made the trip."
Brandon Knieja finished the mile in sixth place with a time of 4:20.84.
Matt Lyons took 15
th place with a time of 4:30.25.
Brandon Knieja, Chase Mckee,
Francisco Ramirez and
Joel Nesi finished in fourth place with a combined time of 10:17.93 in the distance medley relay.
Mckee finished the 800m with a time of 2:12.14.
