WINSTON-SALEM, N.C.- The Flagler College men's and women's track & field programs competed for the first time this season at the JDL Early Bird Invitational on Sunday, Dec. 4.
The Saints had entries in the mile, 800m, 3000m, 5000m and 4x400m relay.
Sophomore
Brandon Knieja claimed a victory in the one mile with a first-place time of 4:19.52.
Joel Nesi followed in second with a time of 4:20.63, while
Will Stone (4:23.36) took fourth.
Matt Lyons (4:26.36),
Francisco Ramirez (4:28.08) and
Max Bowlin (4:46.62) were the next three Saints to cross the finish line, placing sixth, seventh and 15
th.
In the men's 800,
Logan Burch took ninth with a time of 2:02.85.
Chase McKee (2:03.25) finished in 11
th place, followed by
Adrian Abercrombie in 20
th at 2:14.35.
The 3000m featured
Jon Eide (8:53.42) leading the Saints in eighth.
Christian Fernandez took 12
th with a time of 9:04.21, while
Logan Seifert (9:09.20) secured 13
th.
Gavin Ross (9:21.67) and
A'Jani Stokes (9:26.82) finished in 15
th and 16
th place.
Two Saints ran in the 5000m.
Ethan Tank took second with a time of 15:43.28, followed by
Michael Hayeck in fourth at 16:55.64.
In the men's 4x400 relay, the Saints earned a fourth-place finish with a combined time of 3:34.53. Returners, Lyons and Ramirez paired with newcomers Knieja and Stone.
