ST. AUGUSTINE – Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University scored four runs in the second inning and did not look back in a 9-1 victory of Flagler College in a non-conference baseball game Tuesday evening at Drysdale Field.
Embry-Riddle has won three-of-its-last-four games and improved to 17-19 overall. Flagler fell to 27-14. The Saints will play its final regular season homestand this weekend as they welcome in Claflin University. The series starts Friday at 5 p.m.
Torin Foley led off the second by reaching on an error and advanced to third on Jack Beyl's double down the left field line. Aidan Schmidt reached on an infield single that scored Foley with the first run of the game. Max McCluskey followed with a double down the right field line to give the Eagles a 2-0 lead. They added another run on a wild pitch and the fourth run of the frame scored on a single.
That's all Keagan Perez (2-0) needed as he allowed one run on three hits over five innings pitched.
McClusky went 3-for-3 with a pair of doubles, three runs batted in, and three runs scored. Cole Bullen collected three singles and drove in two more runs.
Brayden Matthews (3-4) pitched one-plus innings and surrendered four runs (two earned) on five hits.
George Gilson hit two doubles for the Saints and scored the lone run.
