DAHLONEGA, Ga. – No. 11 (ABCA Division II Top 30) University of North Georgia scored eight runs in the last three innings and went on to defeat Flagler College 11-1 in seven innings in the Peach Belt Conference Tournament Sunday afternoon at Bob Stein Stadium.
North Georgia improved to 41-12 and advanced to the championship series next weekend. Flagler ended its season with a 35-18 record.
The first three Nighthawk batters reached base in the bottom of the first inning, and the clean-up hitter, Kyle Robitzsch, hit a single through the hole between shortstop and third base to score two runs. Two batters later, Jake Streeter found the same hole and scored another run.
North Georgia went on to score four runs in the fourth, one in the fifth, and three more in the sixth.
Rhyalin Carvajal (1-0) scattered seven hits over seven innings and allowed one run to earn the win. He fanned four batters.
Robitzsch led the 113-hit attack going 3-for-4 with a double, three runs batted in, and he scored two runs. Ben Hamacher collected three singles, scored two runs, and drove in two more. Streeter went 2-for-4 with a double and three RBI.
Drew Rosenberg (4-1) took the loss for the Saints. He allowed three runs on three hits in two-thirds of an inning.
George Gilson went 2-for-3 with a double, and he scored the lone run.
