ST. AUGUSTINE – Flagler College scored a run in the sixth and three more in the seventh to defeat the University of South Carolina Beaufort 7-3 in a Peach Belt Conference baseball game Saturday afternoon at Drysdale Field.
Flagler improved to 14-6 overall and 4-4 in the Peach Belt. USC Beaufort fell to 4-15 overall and 0-11 in conference play. The same two teams conclude the series tomorrow at 1 p.m.
With the score tied at 3-all going into the bottom of the sixth,
Parker Stallard hit a two-out single to left and then stole second base.
Trenton Snyder laced a single to left field and Stallard rounded third to score. The throw from the left fielder was in plenty of time, but the catcher mishandled the ball, which allowed the run to score.
Flagler added three more in the seventh.
Jesse Sullivan belted a two-run double to center field.
Garrett Wright (2-1) earned the win as he scattered six hits and allowed three runs in six innings of work. He struck out four batters.
Jackson Graden tossed three shutout innings to receive his first save.
Taylor Shultz hit a pair of doubles and scored two runs for the Saints. Stallard and Snyder each collected two singles.
Ian Barnes (0-3) took the loss for the Sand Sharks. He allowed two earned runs on five hits in six innings.
Noah Campbell and Cooper McDaniel each had two singles for USCB.
