ST. AUGUSTINE –
AJ Hunerberg's single up the middle in the seventh inning scored one run, and then the throw into third base hit the runner, to allow another run to score for insurance as Flagler College defeated Middle Georgia State University 4-2 in a Peach Belt Conference baseball game Sunday afternoon at Drysdale Field.
Flagler swept the three-game set and improved to 22-11 overall and 10-8 in the Peach Belt. Middle Georgia slipped to 12-22 overall and 5-13 in conference play. Flagler hosts No. 11 (ABCA Division II Top 30) Rollins College this Tuesday at 5 p.m.
With two outs in the bottom of the seventh, and runners at first and second, Hunerberg hit a single that allowed
Payton Palladino to score from second base.
Taylor Shultz rounded the bag and was halfway to third base when the Middle Georgia center fielder's throw to third base went off Shultz's helmet and went into foul territory. Shultz was able to score and Hunerberg made it all the way to third base. The Saints took a 4-2 lead.
