ST. AUGUSTINE –
Cael Reish belted his first career home run, a three-run shot to left field in Flagler College's 8-2 triumph over Mars Hill University in a non-conference baseball game Saturday afternoon at Drysdale Field.
Flagler improved to 4-1 overall while Mars Hill fell to 0-4. The same two teams meet tomorrow at noon to conclude the series.
The Saints got two runners on board quickly in the bottom of the first with a walk, and the other was hit by a pitch.
Eli Maddox drove home the first run to tie the game at 1-all.
Tripp Davis was hit by a pitch to load the bases with one out.
Payton Palladino knocked in a run on a fielder's choice and Reish followed with his home run to give Flagler a commanding 5-1 lead.
Aaron Zenus settled down after a slow start and worked 4.2 innings before being relieved by
Drew Rosenberg (1-0). Zenus struck out five batters. Rosenberg tossed 3.1 innings of relief and limited the Lions to a run on four hits to pick up the win on the mound.
Maddox went 3-for-5 with a double, three runs scored, and he drove in a run.
Taylor Shultz and
George Gilson each hit two singles.
Jacob Davis (0-2) allowed five earned runs on six hits in six innings of work. He struck out four.
Alejandro Aguilar and Evan Ashe both finished with a pair of singles.
