Clare Sheedy of the Flagler College volleyball team was selected to the College Sports Communicator Academic All-America® second team, according to organization officials this afternoon.
The Academic All-America® teams are selected by the College Sports Communicators for their contributions on and off the court. With four separate divisions, NCAA Division I, Division II, Division III and NAIA, each NCAA Division was represented by three teams while the NAIA consisted of two teams.
For the first time in her career, Sheedy was named an Academic All-America® after her first Academic All-District® in December. The Plymouth, Indiana native is a political science major and is one of 11 Division II representatives to boast a perfect 4.0 GPA. On the court, Sheedy was named the Peach Belt Conference Setter of the Year while also being named an American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Division II honorable mention All-America. During the season Sheedy collected 1,378 assists, averaging 10.52 a set.
