VALDOSTA, Ga. - No. 4-ranked (ITA Division II Top 50) Flagler College fell to Valdosta State University, 4-3, in a non-conference women's tennis match this afternoon at the VSU Tennis Complex.
The loss moved Flagler to 15-4 overall while Valdosta State earned its fourth win of the season, boasting a 4-9 record. The Saints will return to the Pollard Tennis Center on Friday at 6 p.m. against Edward Waters University.
In doubles play, only one pair emerged victorious,
Eryka Kruk and
Laura Jipescu. Their 7-5 win was against Kayla Greco and Valentina Jimenez. In singles,
Sofia Balsera was the first Saint to find a win, against Jimenez, 6-0 and 6-2. Kruk was the lone Saint to stay undefeated on the day after her 6-2 and 6-0 win against Viktoriia Fedorova. The final win of the match came from
Adela Latalova's three set match against Olivia Pezo. Dropping the first set, Latalova made a 6-4 comeback in the second set, then finished the third 6-2.
