DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. - The Flagler College men's track and field team had a record day at the Peach Belt Conference Championship, earning second place over the past two days at the ERAU Track Complex.
The Saints set a new program record with the most points scored at a track and field conference championship. Accumulating 157 points, the Saints were edged out by Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University who placed first with 226 points. Trailing the Saints in third was Augusta University with 123, followed by Columbus State University with 121 points. The University of South Carolina-Beaufort placed fifth with 71 points, then Clayton State University with 62 and in seventh was Lander University with 53 points.
Among those 157 points were four first place finishes, four second place finishes, five third place finishes, two NCAA provisional marks and one PBC record.
Will Stone was one of three runners to tie for the PBC Men's Outstanding Track Athlete award after collecting 20 points. This award is given to the runner with the most amount of individual points earned while competing at the meet. Stone placed first in both the 800 meter and 1500 meter run. In the 1500, Stone and the Saints faced little resistance, winning it in a time of 3:53.83. In the 800, Stone excelled, setting an NCAA provisional time and a new conference record with a 1:50.04 finish. This time has him tied for 30th in the country.
Joining Stone on the provisional list is
Kaleb Hollins who also had a decorated day. Hollins placed third in the 800 with a time of 1:50.30. This time was .05 off of his personal best and places him with the 34th fastest time in the nation. The rivalry continued in the 1500 where Hollins placed second with a time of 3:53.94.
In the 110 hurdles,
Caden Vann topped of the conference. Vann won by a decent margin, finishing in a time of 14.69, the closest competitor ran a 14.92. Vann was also a member of the 4x100 relay team that placed third.
Nate Watson came off the blocks, handing the baton off to Vann,
Ryan Sen then
Malachi South as the anchor. The Saints reeled in a 42.27 finish.
South added more hardware to his name after competing in the 200 and 4x400 meter relay. Setting a new personal record, South placed a respectable third in the 200 meter dash in 21.55, .02 off of second place. In the 4x400, South and the Saints made an incredible comeback to secure first place and a new school record.

Houston Harper,
Xander Cunningham and South finished in 3:15.43. Setting a new school record, Harper earned silver in the 400 meter with a time of 48.66.
The distance side found success while being led by
Francisco Ramirez and
Jon Eide. Competing in the 5000 meter run, the Saints took second through fifth. Leading the charge was Francisco who finished second in 14:51.43. Eide followed close behind, placing third in 14:57.90.
Brandon Knieja and
Miquel Fons rounded out the pack with Knieja finishing in 14:59.30 and Fons in fifth with a 15:05.26.
In the 10,000 meter run, Eide led the Saints campaign. In a time of 35:21.04, Eide placed second.
Romain Biguet finished on the heels of Eide, placing third in 35:22.03.
Logan Burch represented the Saints on the All-Sportsmanship team. Competing in the 3000 meter steeplechase, Burch placed fifth and set a new personal record of 9:47.74.
