PREVIEW: Saints prepare for the NCAA Indoor Championship

ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla.- For the first time in school history, three representatives from the Flagler College men's and women's track and field team are competing in the NCAA Division II Indoor T&F Championship, held at the Virginia Beach Sports Center on Mar. 13 and 14.

For the fourth consecutive year, the women's track and field team will send one athlete to the National Championship. Senior Abby Misch earned her first career qualification after a standout season running the 800 meter. Over the season, Misch ran the 800 five times and set an NCAA provisional time in four of those. In the final race leading up to the National Championship, Misch ran the fastest time of the her career at the TCNJ Indoor Last Chance. In a time of 2:08.25, Misch holds the 10th fastest time in the nation and the fastest time in the region.

Senior Will Stone qualified for his first NCAA National Championship in the 800 meter. Stone ran the 800 six times this season, making a NCAA provisional time in five of them. While competing at the GVSU Big-Meet on Feb. 14, Stone ran the fastest time of his career, a 1:49.74. Heading into the championship, Stone holds the 17th fastest time in the nation, .01 off of the 16th fastest time. 

Hollins has been at the top of the charts since he ran at the GVSU Big-Meet as well. At the end of the race, Hollins held the fifth fastest time in the nation. His 1:48.76 personal record moved to the eighth fastest time in the nation, .06 off the seventh fastest time.  Entering the race, Hollins holds the best placement of any Saint to compete at the NCAA Championship in program history.
