AUGUSTA, Ga. – Augusta University scored all their runs in four innings to defeat Flagler College 11-1 in seven innings in a Peach Belt Conference baseball game Saturday afternoon at Jaguar Field.
Augusta improved to 12-37 overall and 8-18 in the Peach Belt. Flagler dropped to 29-18 overall and 12-14 in conference play. The two teams will play the final game of the series tomorrow at 1 p.m.
The Jaguars got all the runs they would need in the second inning. Aidan Cannaday hit a two-run home run to right-center to stake Augusta to a 2-0 lead.
Caden Kresak hit an RBI-single to centerfield in the top of the third to score Flagler's lone run.
Augusta added four runs in the fifth, three more in the sixth, and two in the seventh.
Garrett Wright (3-4) scattered five hits and allowed one run as he went the distance for the win. He finished with four strikeouts.
Mike Morrison paced the 12-hit attack as he went 3-for-4 with a double and he scored two runs. Jackson Thomas finished 2-for-4 with a home run, three runs batted in, and he scored two runs. Cannaday went 2-for-2 with a home run, two runs scored, and two RBI. Zach Kwiatkowski added two singles, scored two runs, and drove in another.
Cooper Smith (4-5) allowed six runs on eight hits in 4.2 innings for the Saints.
