ST. AUGUSTINE – Matthew Mebane went 3-for-4 with a pair of doubles while Bradley Wilson (5-1) scattered eight hits over eight scoreless innings on the hill as Georgia College & State University shut out Flagler College 8-0 in a Peach Belt Conference baseball game Saturday afternoon at Drysdale Field.
Georgia College improved to 16-14 overall and 9-2 in the Peach Belt. Flagler dropped to 21-7 overall and 7-4 in conference play. The rubber game of the series is tomorrow at 1 p.m.
Caleb Miele broke the scoreless tie with a two-run single to center field in the fourth. Another run scored on a wild pitch to give the Bobcats a 3-0 lead.
Back-to-back RBI singles in the fifth by Braeden Smith and Mebane increased the lead to 5-0.
Georgia College added single tallies in the sixth, eight, and ninth innings.
Wilson got in and out of trouble as he induced 12 fly outs and 10 ground outs. The Saints had runners in scoring positions in five of the innings but couldn't push across a run. The Saints left 11 men on base.
Mebane scored two runs and had one run batted in for GCSU. Gabe Wuerth finished with two singles and he scored a run. Ben Hamacher went 2-for-4 with a double, a run scored, and he had one RBI.
Cooper Smith (2-1) allowed five runs on seven hits with two walks and six strikeouts in five innings of work for the Saints.

Bryceton Berry all worked in relief.
Tripp Davis collected three singles while
Mason Gray went 2-for-5 with a double.
