JACKSONVILLE, Fla. –
Eli Maddox went 3-for-4 with a grand slam, six runs batted in, and he scored two runs as Flagler College won a slugfest at Edward Waters University, 12-11, in a non-conference baseball game Tuesday afternoon at Henry L. Aaron Field at James P. Small Memorial Park.
Flagler won its sixth game in a row and improved to 20-6 overall. Edward Waters dropped to 15-12.
The Saints erased a 4-3 deficit with a five-run seventh inning. Maddox and
Justin Haskins hit back-to-back RBI singles with the latter driving in the go-ahead run.
Flagler scored four more in the eighth, all coming from Maddox's grand slam.
However, the Tigers rallied to scored seven runs in the eighth. Caden Hutchinson belted a grand slam to aid the cause.
But
Ethan Bobo, working in his second inning of relief, retired the side in the ninth to preserve the win.
Steven Reiss (2-2) was credited with the win as he tossed 2.2 scoreless innings in relief with three strikeouts.
Eli Roberts started and worked three-plus innings.
Jake Hill,
Bryceton Berry, and
Drew Rosenberg all worked in relief.
Haskins collected three singles and drove in run for the Saints.
Caden Kresak went 2-for-4 with a double and he scored two runs.
Mason Gray was hit twice, drew a walk, and scored four runs.
Jaden Ross finished with two singles and scored a run.
Nikko Bates (0-2) took the loss in relief for Edward Waters. He allowed five runs on four hits in one inning of work.
Raul Ramirez went 3-for-5 with a double, three runs scored, and one run batted in.
