ST. AUGUSTINE – Dominic Puccetti (5-0) tossed 8.1 innings, scattered nine hits and allowed two earned runs to help Lander University to a 7-3 win over Flagler College in a Peach Belt Conference baseball game Saturday afternoon at Drysdale Field.
Lander won its 10
th game in a row and improved to 12-5 overall and 2-0 in the Peach Belt. Flagler dropped to 11-5 overall and 0-2 in conference play. The same two teams meet tomorrow at 1 p.m. to conclude the three-game series.
The Bearcats took an early 3-0 lead. They got that lead thanks to a solo home run by Will McClellan to lead off the fourth inning.
Eli Maddox hit a double in the home half of the fourth that scored 
Jesse Sullivan who started the rally with a lead-off single. Maddox came around to score via an error. He had been moved to third on a sacrifice bunt and then scored on a fielder's choice grounder to the Lander third baseman. His throw home to the catcher was in time, but the catcher bobbled the ball allowing Maddox to score.
The Bearcats got one run back in the fifth on a Grant Sherrod single to center that scored Taichi Nakao from second base.
In the ninth, Lowndes Still's pinch hit two-run single to right-center put Lander ahead 7-3.
Maddox drilled a home run to lead off the ninth for Flagler.
Sherrod finished with four singles, two runs batted in, and he scored a run for Lander. McClellan went 2-for-4 with the solo home run while Nakao collected two singles and scored two runs. Evan Wickeri went 2-for-4 with a double and he scored twice.
Cooper Smith (2-1) took the loss on the hill for Flagler. He allowed three earned runs on seven hits over five innings.

Bryceton Berry all worked in relief.
Maddox went 2-for-3 with a double, a home run, two RBI, and he scored two runs. 
Taylor Shultz and 
Tripp Davis each collected two singles.
