MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. –
Trevur Smalls scored a season high 19 points and led four Flagler College players in double figures in a 79-76 victory over Georgia College & State University in a Peach Belt Conference men's basketball game Saturday afternoon at the Centennial Center.
Flagler improved to 12-8 overall and 6-5 in the Peach Belt. The Saints swept the season series against the Bobcats for the first time since 2021-22. Georgia College dropped to 8-14 overall and 3-9 in conference play. Flagler hosts No. 20 (NABC Division II Top 25) Columbus State University on Monday at 7:30 p.m. at Flagler Gym.
The score was tied at 36 at the half, but the Saints built a 10-point lead, 67-57, with 5:34 left to go in the game. GCSU's Zyair Greene was fouled with 31 seconds left and he sank all three free throws to make it a one possession game (75-73).
Mason Manning drew a foul and he made both shots with 25 seconds remaining. He made 11 of 12 free throws in the game accounting for all of his points.
GCSU's Ian Davis got a long rebound off a three-point miss and sank a three-pointer of his own to make it 77-76 Saints with 10 seconds left. Following a Georgia College timeout, Flagler's
Jax Bouknight drew a foul and made both shots.
Greene put up a three-point shot with three seconds left, but it missed the mark.
Smalls made all seven of his shots from the field, including two 3-pointers, and he made 3-of-his-4 free throw attempts. Bouknight added 18 points and three assists.
Josiah Shackelford tacked on 10 points and four rebounds.
Jaylen Jordon grabbed a team-high eight rebounds.
Greene scored a game-high 24 points to pace the Bobcats. He made 11 free throws and also grabbed six rebounds. Dallas Clayton recorded a double-double coming off the bench with 14 points and 16 rebounds. Aidan Kudlas chipped in with 12 points and five rebounds.
GCSU out-rebounded Flagler 43-24 and had 12 offensive boards that led to 12 second chance points.
