AIKEN, S.C. –
Jax Bouknight scored a team-high 18 points and grabbed six rebounds but it wasn't enough in a 91-74 loss at USC Aiken in a Peach Belt Conference men's basketball game Wednesday night at Flagler Gym.
Flagler drops to 11-8 overall and 5-5 in the Peach Belt. USC Aiken improved to 14-6 overall and 7-3 in conference play. The Saints stay on the road and head to Milledgeville to face Georgia College & State University on Saturday.
The Pacers opened the game on a 16-5 run and never looked back. They held a 50-30 lead at the half. USC Aiken out-rebounded Flagler 45-39 and grabbed 17 offensive boards that led to 22 second chance points.
The Saints rallied in the second half, but couldn't get any closer than nine points.
Josiah Shackelford proved 15 points off the bench and made 11-of-12 from the free throw line for the Saints.
Jaylen Jordon added 12 points and six rebounds while
Mason Manning contributed 10 points and grabbed seven rebounds.
Rhyjon Blackwell led all scorers with 21 points as he made 6-of-8 from the field, including 2-for-2 from three-point range, and he made all seven free throw attempts. Jalen McCoy added 20 points, grabbed six rebounds, and blocked four shots. Davion Cunningham finished with 13 points and had four steals. Caleb Byrd tacked on 12 points, four rebounds, and three steals. Chadlet Delva corralled a game-high 10 rebounds and blocked five shots.
