ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. - The No. 6-ranked (ITA Division II Top 25) Flagler College women's tennis team swept Saint Anselm College this afternoon, 7-0, at the Pollard Tennis Center.
The Saints improved to 6-1 while the Hawks dropped to 4-8 on the season. Flagler hosts Lenoir-Rhyne University on Sunday, March 2 at 2 p.m.
Sofia Balsera and
Adela Latalova put up yet another 6-0 win for the Saints, this time against Abigail and Julia Svor. The clinching point in doubles came from
Eryka Kruk and
Polya Nikolova against Julie Borschig and Camila Heredia-Osant, 6-2. A new duo of
Laura Jipescu and
Anastasia Nikolova earned their first win, 6-4, against Irene Garbo and Natalie Gonzalez Ramos.
The Saints put up an even more dominant performance in singles, with five of the six courts allowing the Hawks to score two or less points. Balsera continued her win streak, sweeping Abigail Svor 6-0 in both sets. Both Latalova and
Polya Nikolova defeated their opponents, Borschig and Alyssa Conley by the same 6-0, 6-1 score. Kruk took both sets 6-1 against Heredia-Osant while Jipescu defeated Gonzalez Ramos 6-2, 6-0.
Anastasia Nikolova won the tie breaking first set 7-6 (7-2) then 6-2 in the second against Garbo.
