INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - In the quarterfinal round of the 2025 ITA Division II Indoor Championship, No. 7-seed Flagler College came up short against No. 2 seed University of North Georgia, 4-3, this morning.
The Saints moved to 2-1 overall and are sent to the consolation bracket where they will face off against the loser of No. 3 seed Lynn Univsersity and No. 6 seed Midwestern State University. That consolation round match will be tomorrow at 8 a.m.
A late rally resulted in the Saints overcoming a 2-0 deficient with
Eryka Kruk defeating Carolina Reiss 6-3, 6-2. The tying match came when
Sofia Balsera took down Emily Bush 6-4 in both sets. The final point from the Saints came in three sets via
Adela Latalova over Vasilis Kupriyanova. Latalova took set one. 6-4 then set three, 6-3, which gave Flagler a 3-2 lead.
Both
Dana Heimen and
Anastasia Nikolova had their matches go to three sets, with them both coming down to the wire. Heimen took set one 6-2 against No. 4 Angelina Linnikova before dropping set two 7-5. Going down 3-0 in the final set, Heimen clawed her way back to make it 4-3 before falling, 6-3. Nikolova took the first set against Ashley Moinard 6-4. Dropping set two, Nikolova and Moinard were neck-and-neck till the very end in a 7-5 loss.
