ORLANDO, Fla. – No. 7 (ITA Division II Top 25) Flagler College rolled to a 6-1 victory over Rollins College Monday afternoon at the USTA National Tennis Center.
Flagler remained undefeated at 2-0 while Rollins fell to 1-3. Up next for the Saints is the ITA Division II Women's Indoor Championship at Indianapolis, Indiana where they face Peach Belt Conference-rival University of North Georgia in the quarterfinal round on Friday at 8 a.m.
The Saints swept through doubles play winning all three matches.
Dana Heimen and
Anastasia Nikolova, the No. 21-ranked duo in the country, defeated Nancy Liu and Amina Taibi, 6-3, which was the last of the doubles matches to complete.
Laura Jipescu and
Eryka Kruk rolled to a 6-2 win over Milla Foster and Amina Abdulloeva.
Sofia Balsera and
Adela Latalova provided the other win, 6-2, over Polina Vlasova and Stella Fruijtier.
Flagler claimed three of the singles matches in straight sets. Nikolova dominated Vlasova 6-3, 6-2 at No. 2 and then Kruk edged Nina Mitrofanova 6-3, 7-6(3) to give the Saints a 3-0 lead. Balsera clinched the match with a 6-3, 3-6, 6-2 victory over Abdulloeva. Jipescu, ranked No. 47, defeated Falster 3-6, 7-6(2), and 6-2.
