ST. AUGUSTINE –
Josiah Shackelford tied his season high with 26 points to help Flagler College to a 71-62 win over Clayton State University in a Peach Belt Conference men's basketball game Saturday afternoon at Flagler Gym.
Flagler improved to 13-10 overall and 7-7 in the Peach Belt. Clayton State dropped to 7-17 overall and 1-13 in conference play. Flagler visits Columbus State University on Wednesday.
The Saints used a 12-5 spurt midway through the first half to take a 30-20 lead. Shackelford bookended the run with a pair of three-pointers. Flagler would lead by as many as 14 late in the second half.
Mason Manning and
Max Hrdlicka each added 10 points for the Saints.
Jaylen Jordon finished with seven points and seven rebounds while
Jax Bouknight added six points, six rebounds, six assists, and had a career-high six steals.
Flagler forced 17 Clayton State turnovers and cashed those in for 24 points.
Yannis Woods led the Lakers with 15 points and nine rebounds. Aaron Pitts added 11 points, four rebounds, and tallied four assists.
