INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – The Flagler College men's soccer team is ranked No. 12 in the second of three NCAA Division II Super Region 2 rankings, which was released Wednesday afternoon.
The last published ranking will be next Wednesday.
Flagler (10-2-6 overall, 10-2-6 in-region record) is one of three Peach Belt Conference teams ranked in the top 12. Lander University (8-2-6, 8-2-6) checks in at No. 7 while the University of North Georgia (9-4-5, 9-4-5) follow at No. 10.
The super region combines both the south and southeast regions.
Topping the ranking is Palm Beach Atlantic University (12-0-2, 12-0-2). Lynn University (11-2-1, 11-2-1), Florida Tech (7-2-6, 7-2-6), and Nova Southeastern University (7-3-3, 7-3-3) follows at Nos. 2-4. Mississippi College (10-1-4, 10-1-4) is No. 5 while Anderson University (9-1-4, 9-1-4) comes in at No. 6. Young Harris College (12-1-3, 12-1-3) is ranked No. 8 and Rollins College (8-3-5, 8-3-5) is No. 9. The University of West Florida (9-1-5, 9-1-5) is No. 10.
The Saints overall strength of schedule is .498, which is 32
nd in the region. Flagler's D2 Performance Indicator, which is a system that assigns numerical values to game results depending on the site and quality of the opponent, is 16.722. That number is 16
th in the region. The national tournament selection criteria are based on, in no particular order: in-region winning percentage, D2 winning percentage, D2 strength of schedule, D2 head-to-head competition, and results vs. common D2 opposition.
The NCAA regional rankings are the official rankings used by the committee to select the national tournament field. The field will be comprised of 40 teams, and the Super Region 2 will have 10 teams. However, two more polls are to be announced until the official release of the 40-team field on Monday, Nov. 17 at 7 p.m. Eastern.
