AUGUSTA, Ga. – Flagler College's
Filip Hornburg and
Ryan Rivas were selected as the Peach Belt Conference's Defender and Goalkeeper of the Week, respectively, according to a release this afternoon by conference officials.
Hornburg, a freshman defender, played 180 minutes last week helping the Saints to a 1-0-1 record. He scored two goals in Flagler's 4-1 win over USC Aiken last Wednesday and was part of a Saints defense that recorded a shutout against No. 19 (United Soccer Coaches Division II Top 25) University of North Georgia. Rivas, a junior goalkeeper, turned in a clean sheet Saturday and tallied four saves. He had eight saves against USC Aiken. Rivas ranks second in the PBC in goals against average (0.94) and leads the league in save percentage (.807). This was his fourth goalkeeper of the week honor this season.
Flagler hosts USC Aiken Saturday at 2 p.m. in the first round of the PBC Tournament.
