ST. AUGUSTINE – Flagler College and the University of South Carolina Aiken will meet once again on Saturday (Nov. 8) in a Peach Belt Conference Men's Soccer Tournament first round match at Saints Field at 2 p.m. This is the third year in a row both teams have met in the first round.
All tickets will be done through Hometown Ticketing and must be purchased on-line in advance
by clicking here. Tickets are $12 for anyone six years of age or older. Complimentary admission will be made for those who have Peach Belt Sports Passes, students with a valid ID from a PBC school, and children five years old and under.
Live video of the tournament will be on a pay-per-view basis. The cost of the broadcast is $10, but for anyone with a Flagler College email account (yourname@flagler.edu), there will be a 50 percent discount.
The two teams met Oct. 8 at Saints Field with the match ending in a 1-1 tie.
Finn Weigelt put the Saints on the board first with a goal in the 76
th minute. Rafael Kawata scored the equalizer for the Pacers in the 85
th minute.
Nico Mejia recorded three saves for Flagler while Felipe Mattos saved six shots. The Saints won the second meeting, 4-1, at Aiken on Oct. 29.
Filip Hornburg scored two goals in the span of 31 seconds, including the game-winner.
Lenz Trubenbacher and
Luke Williams supplied the other two Flagler goals. Rafa Reno scored the lone goal for USCA.
Flagler leads the all-time series 21-2-2 and sports a 12-1-1 record in matches played at Saints Field.
The Saints are 17-12-2 all-time in the conference tournament since becoming members of the Peach Belt in 2009. Flagler won the title in 2011, 2020, and 2024. They were the runners-up in 2009 and 2010.
Flagler (10-2-6 overall, 6-1-5 PBC) is the No. 3 seed in the tournament.
Luke Williams leads the team in goals with six and points (15).
Alex Alexandrou has scored three goals and has a team-high five assists for 11 points.
Owen Cunha shares the team-lead in assists with Alexandrou.
Ryan Rivas has turned in seven clean sheets this year and holds a 1.00 goals-against average.
USC Aiken (5-7-4, 3-6-3) is the No. 6 seed in the tournament. The Pacers are led by Kawata who has scored four goals and tallied six assists for 14 points. Mattos has two shutouts this season and a 2.14 goals-against average.
The winner of the match will advance to the conference semifinals on Wednesday (Nov. 12) to face the winner of No. 2 seed Lander University and No. 7 seed Middle Georgia State University. The highest remaining seed will host the semifinal match.
