ST. AUGUSTINE –
Josiah Shackelford came off the bench to score a game-high 25 points and grabbed six rebounds in Flagler College's 73-56 romp over Georgia College & State University in a Peach Belt Conference men's basketball game Saturday afternoon at Flagler Gym.
Flagler snapped a three-game losing streak to improve to 8-5 overall and evened its conference record to 2-2. This was the first time the Saints beat the Bobcats in St. Augustine since Feb. 23, 2022. Georgia College dropped its fourth game in a row and fell to 5-9 overall and 0-4 in conference play. Flagler heads to Augusta, Georgia on Wednesday to take on the Jaguars at 7:30 p.m.
The Saints used a 20-2 run over a 5:16 span to pull away from the Bobcats. Shackelford made a pair of 3-pointers and added a layup to close out the first half and give Flagler a 37-25 lead. After a James Nicholas III layup cut the Bobcat deficit to 10 to start the second half, Flagler reeled off the next 12 points.
Destin Clark added 17 points, eight rebounds, and three assists for Flagler.
Hoku Fisher contributed 10 points, five rebounds, three steals, and two assists.
Boom Reeves corralled eight rebounds.
Jax Bouknight tallied five assists.
Nichols and Oscar Lynch each scored 10 points to lead Georgia College. Tony Carpio grabbed seven boards.
