NEW ORLEANS, La. – Flagler College's
Taylor Stone and
Will Stone, along with the men's and women's track and field teams, were honored for their success in the classroom this past season. Both Stones received the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) All-Academic Athlete honors.
Will Stone, a sophomore from Largo, Florida, is a data science and mathematics major at Flagler. He earned Peach Belt Conference Presidential Honor Roll Presidential Scholar honors last month.
Taylor Stone, a junior from Largo, Florida, is a finance major and is Will's sister. She earned PBC Presidential Honor Roll Silver Scholar honors and was a member of the academic-all-conference team for track.
The criteria for NCAA D2 All-Academic Athlete is a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.25, must have completed at least 24 semester hours, the student-athlete must have achieved an automatic or provisional qualifying mark (individual or relay) for either the indoor or outdoor seasons.
The women posted a 3.38 cumulative grade point average while the men finished with a 3.04.
The cumulative GPA (not 2023-24 academic year, not semester) for all student-athletes on the institution's NCAA Squad List for Indoor and/or Outdoor Track and Field must be 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale, certifiable by the institution's registrar. Institutions utilizing a different GPA scale must convert the GPA to a 4.0 scale using the standard conversion method [GPA/Scale x 4.0]. Transfer students and/or graduate students are to include only grades earned at the current nominating institution. The cumulative GPA of all student-athletes on the institution's NCAA Squad List for Indoor and/or Outdoor Track and Field must be computed.
