Saints wrap up the Georgia Showdown

STATESBORO, Ga. - The Flagler College men's track and field team finished up the Georgia Showdown, hosted by Georgia Southern University at Bo Pitts Field, on Saturday.

Flagler's competition consisted of schools like NCAA Division I host Georgia Southern University, Lander University and University of South Carolina Beaufort. Next week, Flagler will wrap up its regular season at the App State Open, hosted by Appalachian State University on April 18-19.

The highest placement a Saint finished in their respective race was second place. The first came from Trystan Capille who competed in the 400 meter hurdles finishing his race in 58 seconds flat. The second, second place finisher on the meet was Christian Fernandez. Fernandez raced in the 3000 meter steeplechase in a time of 9:55.23.

Logan Burch followed closely behind in the steeplechase, placing third in 9:56.24. Xander Cunningham was the final Saint to find the podium, placing third in the 400 meter run. Competing against 15 runners, Cunningham finished his race in 51.10.

In the 800 meter run, Josh Sea was the lone Saint representing. Narrowly missing fourth by .06 of a second, Sea placed fifth in 2:01.21. Adrian Abercrombie and Ben Youngs took on the 5000 meter run. Abercrombie led the way, placing fifth in 16:17.52 while Youngs placed sixth in 16:31.80.
