Saints wrap up the regular season at App State

BOONE, N.C.  - The Flagler College men's track and field team competed in their final meet of the regular season, the App State Open, held at Appalachian State University this afternoon at the Randy Marion Track & Field Facility.

With a week to rest, the Saints next meet will be the Peach Belt Conference Championship, hosted by Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, April 28 -29.

The Saints squared off against NCAA Division I schools Radford University and Appalachian State. Among NCAA Division II schools, the Saints competed against Catawba College, Carson-Newman University and Lenoir-Rhyne University.

The lone Saint to finish in first place was Jon Eide who competed in the 5000 meter run. Eide competed against 40 runners and finished in 15:02.86. Not far behind was Miquel Fons who placed third in 15:04.66. Trystan Capille remained at the helm for the Saints in the 400 meter hurdles, placing third overall. Crossing the line in 55.32, Capille placed a new personal record. Will Stone was the final Saint to find the podium. Competing in the mile, Stone set an NCAA provisional time and a new personal record of 4:09.

Kruz Jimenez competed in three events with his best result coming from the 110 meter hurdles. Jimenez placed fourth in the final race of the hurdles with a time of 15.62. Houston Harper lead the charge in the 400 meter run, placing fourth in a time of 49.56. In the 800 meter run, John Carbone made his spring season debut, finishing fourth in a time of 1:56.17. The 4x100 meter relay team of Nate Watson, Caden Vann, Ryan Sen and Malachi South also finished fourth in a time of 41.77.
