DAHLONEGA, Ga. – The Flagler College softball team fell to No. 8 University of North Georgia in the first round of the NCAA Division II Southeast Regional, 4-0, on Thursday afternoon.
The Saints faced off against conference foe UNG for the third time this season with the Nighthawks seeded second in the regional tournament and the Saints at seventh. North Georgia put up their first two runs in the bottom of the second with a sacrifice fly and an RBI single. Flagler saw their first hit in the top of the third with a triple from
Sydney Stewart, but no one was able to bring her home to score. By the end of the third, the Nighthawks had scored all four of their runs in the game.
Cassidy Crump and
Rylee Konowalchuk made it on base for the Saints with hits of their own.
Sydney Stewart went 2-for-4 in the game with a triple.
Rachel Hester (7-7) stayed in the circle for the Saints, pitching 6 innings and facing 26 batters.
Flagler will face the loser of the game between Francis Marion University and Columbus State University in the elimination game on Friday at 2:30 p.m.
