DAHLONEGA, Ga. – The Flagler College softball team fell 9-0 to No. 8 (NFCA Division II Top 25 Coaches Poll) University of North Georgia in their final game of the PBC Tournament on Sunday.
The Nighthawks earned a quick and early lead on the Saints, scoring six runs on four hits in the bottom of the third. An error led to the first run scored, followed by a sacrifice fly and a trio of singles that put UNG up 6-0. They extended their lead to 9-0 in the bottom of the fourth on three hits and an error.
The Saints had a chance in the top of the fifth with runners in scoring position. It started with a single from
Rylee Konowalchuk, followed by
Jordan Moss reaching first on a fielder's choice that saw
Reese Snipes, who pinch ran for Konowalchuk, out at second.
Paige Maseda singled up the middle to get on base and advance Moss to second. Both runners advanced on a fly out to center field from Stewart and bases were loaded once
Emily Ricci drew a walk. The Saints were unable to capitalize and left three runners on base to end the game in a run-rule for UNG.
The Peach Belt Conference Tournament will continue with University of North Georgia and Columbus State University facing off in the championship series next weekend.
