Hollins and Nesi break records with personal-best times

RALEIGH, N.C. – The Flagler College men's outdoor track and field team competed at the Raleigh Relays in Raleigh, N.C. and the Embry-Riddle Running Elements Classic in Daytona Beach, Fla. this past weekend.
 
Kaleb Hollins and Joel Nesi broke school records in the 800m and 5000m, respectively, at the Raleigh Relays. Hollins hit the NCAA Division II provisional mark with his personal-best time of 1:51.22. His time ranks 13th in the nation and leads the conference and region. Nesi finished with a personal-best time of 14:27.62 to break the record, rank first in conference and seventh in the region. 
 
Will Stone (1:53.57) and Brandon Knieja (1:54.66) ran in the 800m and their times rank them 4th and 5th in the Peach Belt, respectively, while Knieja hit a personal-best. Knieja and Hollins also ran in the 1500m with Luke Larkin and Will Stone. Hollins finished in 138th with a time of 3:53.65 and Knieja in 143rd with a time of 3:53.76. Larkin (3:54.91) and Stone (3:55.70) finished 151st and 157th. Knieja and Stone's new times rank them 2nd and 5th in the conference. 
 
Jon Eide ran in the 5000m with Nesi and finished at 188th with a time of 14:51.78.  
 
At the Embry-Riddle Running Elements Classic the Saints had entries in the 100m, 200m, 400m, 800m, 1500m, 5000m, 110 hurdles, 400 hurdles, 3000 steeplechase and 4x100 relay. As well as field entries in the long jump, triple jump, shot put, discus and javelin.
 
A group of eight freshman competed in the 100m preliminaries for the Saints. Ryan Sen (10.96), Malachi South (11.11) and Logan Camara (11.23) finished in the top 50. Darrell Miller III (11.40), Malik Edwards (11.41) and Amonyay Prichard (11.41) finished three in a row at 66th, 67th and 68th. The final two to finish for the Saints were Christian McFarlane with a time of 11.46 and Ian McGrorty with a time of 11.62.
 
The Saints had 11 entries in the 200m preliminaries with South (22.45) finishing in the top 50 at 30th place. Behind him was Sen, Camara and Xander Cunningham in 53rd, 55th and 58th, respectively. Sam Adebonojo finished with a personal-best time of 23.15 and McGrorty at 23.30. Other finishers for the Saints were Prichard (23.32), Reuel Belizaire (23.42 – PR), McFarlane (23.49), Edwards (23.68) and Caden Vann (23.91).
 
In the 400m, Camara finished 16th with a time of 49.87 and behind him was Cunningham with a time of 51.09 in 32nd. Rounding out the top 50 were Edwards in 37th with a time of 51.63 and McGrorty in 43rd with a time of 52.24. South was the final Saint with a time of 54.76, finishing in 58th.
 
Houston Harper ran in the 800m and earned a 20th place finish with a time of 1:56.99. In the 1500m, Max Bowlin and Logan Burch finished in the top 25 with times of 4:07.94 and 4:08.24, respectively. Joshua Sea earned 32nd with a time of 4:11.23. 
 
The 5000m saw eight Saints compete with Ethan Tank, Finnian Russell and Francisco Ramirez placing in the top 10. Tank in third with a time of 14:53.49, Russell in fifth with a time of 15:05.05 and Ramirez in ninth with a time of 15:13.40. Rounding out the top 25 were Bryce Dufrene (15:16.62) in 11th, Christian Fernandez (15:23.58) in 18th and Adrian Abercrombie (15:42.26) in 25th. The final two for the Saints were Dieumerci Ufitimana with a time of 15:45.27 in 27th and Ben Youngs with a time of 16:31.81 finishing 45th. 
 
Sam Abebonojo finished seventh in the 110 hurdles finals with a personal-best time of 15.50. The 400 hurdles had five Saints compete and David Stanley finished 17th with a time of 59.25. Belizaire hit a personal-best with his time of 59.67. Kruz Jimenez (1:00.68), Conner Hall (1:01.52) and Aaron Dolton (1:04.86) placed 20th, 22nd and 26th, respectively. 
 
Freshmen Paul Schedlbauer (10:00.63) and Miquel Fons (10:37.71) finished second and fifth in the 3000 steeplechase. The Flagler 4x100 relay team of Sen, Vann, South and Adebonojo placed seventh with a time of 42.35. 
 
In the field events, Jimenez hit personal-best jumps in the long jump and triple jump. He finished 10th in the long jump with a 6.56m mark and 6th in the triple jump with a 13.63m mark. McGrorty and Prichard also hit personal bests in the long jump. McGrorty placed 24th with a 5.94m jump and Prichard in 26th with a 5.72m jump. Edwards followed in 31st with a 4.90m jump.  
 
Jude Daley and Casey Wood competed in the shot put and discus for the Saints. Daly earned 11th in the shot put with a 12.98m mark and 28th in discus with a personal-best 31.64m throw. Wood earned 12th in shot put with a 12.85m mark and 23rd in discus with a 34.41m throw. Aaron Dolton placed 25th in the javelin with a 26.06m mark. 

The Saints travel to Albany, Ga. for the Alice Coachman Invite on April 13.
