AMERICUS, Ga. –
Sharale McCormick and
Destiny McClendon were named to the All-Peach Belt Conference second team, according to a release by the conference office this evening. Also,
Beka Benge received the Elite 18 Award presented by Barnes & Noble College for having the best grade point average of the players on teams at the tournament.
McCormick is averaging 14.0 points and 5.2 rebounds per game. The North Lauderdale, Florida native is second on the team with 30 steals, and has an 85.3 free throw percentage. She is seventh in the league in scoring average, ninth in field goal percentage (38.2), and second in free throw percentage. This her second consecutive all-conference honor.
McClendon leads the Saints in scoring average with 16.3 points per game and her 89.6 free throw percentage ranks ninth in NCAA Division II. She is fifth in the nation with 173 made free throws. The Greensboro, Georgia native has 35 assists, 30 steals, and nine blocked shots. McClendon is third in the conference in scoring, leads the league in free throw percentage, and is eighth in three-pointers made per game (1.6).
Benge is the seventh Flagler student-athlete to receive the prestigious Elite 18 Award. The program started in 2012-13 and she is the first women's basketball player from Flagler to be honored. The St. Cloud, Florida native holds a perfect 4.00 grade point average and is majoring in elementary education with a minor in criminology.
