ST. AUGUSTINE –
Gabby Bush tied her career high with 19 points on 5-of-6 shooting in Flagler College's 68-57 loss to Lander University in a Peach Belt Conference women's basketball game Wednesday evening at Flagler Gymnasium.
Flagler slipped to 7-9 overall and 2-6 in the Peach Belt. Lander won its second game in a row and improved to 5-10 overall and 3-5 in conference play. The Saints head to Milledgeville, Georgia on Saturday to face Georgia College & State University.
The Bearcats took control early with an 11-2 run in the first quarter. Jazz Frierson's layup with 9:53 left in the first quarter capped the run and gave Lander a 20-9 lead.
Flagler was able to trim the deficit to three (20-17), but trailed 42-30 at the half.
Marley Smith added 16 points for the Saints.
Natalie Herrin tacked on nine points and six rebounds.
Flagler committed 27 turnovers which led to 29 Lander points.
Lauren Crossland led the Bearcats with 18 points and Quadaija Langley added 15 points. Ansley Gartrell came off the bench to provide 10 points. Kiley Tilus grabbed a team-high six rebounds.
