AIKEN, S.C. –
Jalen Barr scored a game-high 18 points and grabbed seven rebounds to lead Flagler College to a 76-64 win over Georgia College & State University in a Peach Belt Conference Men's Basketball Tournament semifinal game Thursday night at the Convocation Center.
Flagler, the No. 4 seed, improved to 20-10 and advances to Saturday's championship game at 1 p.m. against No. 2 seed, and No. 20-ranked (NABC Division II Top 25), University of North Georgia. The winner earns the league's automatic berth to the NCAA Division II Southeast Regional. This will be Flagler's third PBC Tournament Championship Game in the last four years. Georgia College's season comes to an end at 15-15.
After Brendan Rigsbee had a personal 5-0 run to give the Bobcats a 41-40 lead early in the second half,
Spencer Bain followed with a three-pointer to put the Saints back up for good, 43-41. Halfway through second half, Flagler used a 9-0 spurt that was capped by an
Omar Figueroa three-pointer to take a 61-49 lead.
Flagler made 16-of-its-22 field goals in the second half (72.7 percent).
Malik Bryant added 14 points, five rebounds, and had three steals for the Saints. Figueroa finished with 12 points.
Mason Manning grabbed a career-high nine rebounds and scored the final six points of the game.
Jax Bouknight chipped in with nine points, five rebounds, and added four assists.
Austin Sloan led the Bobcats 15 points while Luke Chism chipped in with 14 points. Rigsbee finished with 13 points.
The Bobcats sank 12 three-pointers.
